The Coop's availability is based on volunteer/staff availability. Please give us time to clear dates and ensure we will be fully staffed —— if it's looking good, we'll get back to you.PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COOP CAN NOT OFFER ADVANCES OR GUARANTEES. we are 100% nonprofit and any zine donations go directly back into the coop. we cannot guarantee the number of people nor how much you will make in a night. door donations are split among the performers.when contacting us with booking inquiries, please include a short bio, links to your music (can be demos, videos, anything), links to any social media, and anything else you feel is important. a link to a one sheet or your website works even better!while we know this won't 100% deter any weirdos, don't bother contacting us if you uphold any racist, homophobic, antisemitic and otherwise bigoted ideals. we don't want that here, and we certainly don't want you here.

a bit about the space
The Coop is a queer, family, and poc run DIY outdoor space in Tucson, AZ. Our goal is to work with our local community to establish a safe space for art to happen in an all too dull world ... with a punk attitude, and dedication to keeping it as DIY as possible. Volunteer staffed, donation based, and all ages.
The Coop is completely non-profit, family owned and run, and is kept up with donations from zine sales. We run only on suggested door donations —— if it's $5 but you want to pay $10 or can only pay $3, it all looks good to us. No one is ever turned away due to lack of funds. this is not our job, we do not make any money from this. we are just here for the good vibes and good music. The Coop exists mainly through word of mouth and the occasional bout of hanging fliers around town. We do not exist on the internet except for instagram.please do not confuse us with the co-op (food conspiracy) grocery store, or the coop at culinary dropout!!!
biography
The Coop was started in 2018 by Dee Strychnine (they/them, of angelfood, mudpuppy, and other local bands) and later co-run by Catfig44 (she/her, main booker and artist coordinator). The Coop was founded in response to the limited number of spaces to play shows, especially places that allowed young, non-white, femme fronted and queer bands to play, as well as the lack of energy in the underground DIY/punk scene.Since then, The Coop has put on many shows, as well as local short-film premieres and drive-in movies and the occasional game night. Once COVID hit, shows were put to a pause ... but not for the Coop! The space converted into a drive-in space so audience members can watch shows from the comfort and safety of their car, or so they can bring chairs and watch outside. The Coop also offered free livestreams for those who wanted to stay home. The Coop has continued to host both local and touring bands and has become a local hang out for a laid back night of music, fireworks, and fun. Dee and Catfig44 have also worked with local establishments (The Screening Room, local owners of Cheba Hut, etc) to host shows; the Coop has also co-presented the Juneteenth Freedom Festival in the A Mountain community for two years in a row.
the space
The Coop is situated on an acre of rocky dirt in the middle of the desert, away from the city and close to kind neighbors (thanks for letting us keep you up at night!) Parking is first come, first serve. The stage is on a second level, and this area is restricted to performers & staff only. Space is available in front of the stage area for sitting, standing, dancing, or thinking thoughts.Bathrooms are not available, but there is a nearby circle k, McDonalds, and other chains with alright bathrooms.
parking
parking is alongside the road and across the street. please avoid blocking our neighbors' driveways or parking in their yards — you will be asked to move, and we're also not trying to get our neighbors to hate us!
safety
The Coop takes the safety of our community incredibly seriously. We do our utmost to research performers, but we can't 100% vet them all. Please let us know of any concerns regarding performers or staff. If you are in attendance of one of our shows and you witness or experience something at the hands of another guest that made you uncomfortable, please do not hesitate to let us know. We will take the proper steps to address the situation. The Coop does not stand for racism, sexual harassment, violence, or any kinds of bigoted bullshit.WE DON'T BELIEVE IN CALLING THE POLICE. if there's an issue, please bring it to our attention first. Calling the police puts us, our home & space, and the your surrounding community in danger. We will only dial 911 in case of medical emergency. Please respect the space around you. This is our home and we cannot do this without your help. Pick up your trash, don't vandalize, don't pick fights, and remember that ALCOHOL IS NEVER PERMITTED ON THE PREMISES DURING SHOWS.
booking
we book both local and touring artists. please refer to our contact page for more information regarding availability, payout/advances, what we need from artists, etc. if you have any more questions, feel free to contact us!
